Hello, cyborg augmented humans!
Ohh, are you saying that you are not?
So consider this scenario, say you are in a new city, and you wanted to know where this cool new water station is because you are thirsty; the first thing you would think of is to ask your secondary augmentation i.e. your phone, Google Assistant, Siri, etc. I guess you get the point (keeping aside the fact that it's a stupid example), right? But does this secondary augmentation help you to think? …
You will start reading this blog, is that your conscious decision?
Yesterday, I decided to show an old blog of Technothlon to my friend and asked him to edit it. In one of the paragraphs, he removed the semicolon; it looks like he got two consecutive sentences. Gotta obey the laws of ‘the court of grammar’(well forgive my lame attempt at a joke). Anyways, that was too random of an anecdote to tell. But what really is random?
Of course, first, we will have to know what ‘random’ means, according to the definition being random means ‘in the state of…

We received the mail to leave the campus of IIT Guwahati, ASAP and return on March 30, 2020. This instruction did not age well, considering I am writing this still sitting at my home and missing my dearest friends and the campus. But this date changed the course of Technothlon 2020, and if it weren’t for the coronavirus, Technothlon probably wouldn’t have gone completely online for the very first time! Way to find the silver lining, am I right?
Our team achieved this feat only because of the legacy of Technothlon and the great heads…
How secure do we think our data on the internet is? Well, someone does has an answer for this:-
“I don’t want to live in a world where everything that I say, everything I do, everyone I talk to, every expression of creativity or love or friendship is recorded .” — Edward Sowden
In 2013, Edward Snowden leaked highly classified documents about global surveillance programs allegedly run by the NSA and the US government.
So, how do you think this affects the lives of common people such as you and me?
Well, some may find it ‘normal’ as they say…
I am no philosopher, no poet, no author. But with a tenacity I say — I am a reader. And so, being a reader, I feel these words -
“For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet or excite you. Books help us understand who we are and how we are to behave. …
“Finance is not merely about making money. It’s about achieving our deep goals and protecting the fruits of our labor. It’s about stewardship and, therefore, about achieving a good society.” — Robert J. Shiller
Finance in simple terms is the management of money and any other valuables which are equivalents to money. Finance is associated with sustentation and creation of economic wealth or in simpler terms, money. It describes the study of money, banking, credit, assets, and liabilities. Some terms may seem a bit difficult to understand for beginners.
Banking can be defined as a business venture of receiving and…
Take a walk down any high street, and you will find that most of the people if not all will be clutching their phones as if it were a newborn child, logged on to some social media website, or just mindlessly scrolling their newsfeed. Think about the most recent meme you saw, or the latest WhatsApp forward on your “Buddies” group. You won’t have to think hard. You can instantly relate to all such things, and that is the extent to which social media has grown.
How about some stats about social media to substantiate its impact in our lives.
“When I grow up, I want to be an astronaut/pilot/actor/Picasso/ F1 racer!!!”
Ask a second grader what he wants to do in life, and these would probably be the answers. However, ask the same to a tenth grader, and we will mostly be surprised if the answer goes beyond doctor, engineer or lawyer. Isn’t it quite strange how prospective careers seem to narrow down to a few cliched fields as a child progresses through his/her schooling years? This is where the need to make students aware of possible careers comes in. And thus enters Career Awareness!
So, What Is Career…
“The most compelling reason for most people to buy a computer for the home will be to link it to a nationwide communications network. We’re just in the beginning stages of what will be a truly remarkable breakthrough for most people — as remarkable as the telephone.” — Steve Jobs
Today’s generation could never have imagined in their wildest dreams about the world, ages before when there were no computers or any other technologies. Nowadays, every piece of information required is just a click away from everyone, which has been possible due to the invention of these powerful computers.
What comes to your mind when you think of sports? Probably fitness, exercise, endurance, fatigue, fun and you’d rarely end up getting a word science in the list.
Someone has rightly said-
“The team that wins might be the best athletes, but they’ll certainly be the best scientists.”
From cutting edge materials in sports equipment to simple physics laws that bend soccer ball in mid-air, sports demonstrate science in an exciting yet powerful way.
Ever thought what makes Michael Phelps a great swimmer and how Usain Bolt is so much faster than you, why you would prefer a wooden baseball over…
